Default Post Your Interesting Codex Arena Stories

Alright. Well there are other threads discussing the merits about whether or not Codex Arena as a concept should exist. This thread is about the builds being developed for use in Codex Arena. I don't want this to turn into PvX, so don't post full builds, just weird things you saw.

So, post what creative things you've seen people come up with so far in Codex Arena. What made you chuckle? What seemed awful? What surprised you? Obviously, none of these stories are "good" in the traditional sense (they aren't "optimal"), but they work in CA.

I'll start. I saw a glimmer monk with bonnetti's and... distracting blow. He'd interrupt the sin's skill chain by swinging his caster sword while kiting. It actually sorta worked.

It will be interesting to see if any "gimmick" spike teams form using the same secondaries.

First day wasn't very epic at all, played a p-rage war with purge signet (well kinda epic) with ss necro, WoR rit and glimmer monk all day and am already halfway to codex initiate. Oh my! Kinda sick of it already though.

Okay so my ferst day of codex wuz awesome.

I was a warrior playing this super original primal rage bar with no KD.

We had a monk with a original glimmer of light armor of sanctity bar

A rit with a awesome weapon of remedy bar

and a necro with a cool spiteful spirit bar.

We came upon enemies upon enemies..but oddly they all had the same exact thing as us, we fought and fought battle after battle, ensuing ten minutes after ten minutes until everyone ended in an epic draw because we had no spiking capabilities and no synergy.

I then went thru the 4 steps of RA and stopped codex forever.

You know, that's funny because we were running a PRage warrior, an Invoke ele with Nightmare Weapon, an IoP mesmer, and a glimmer monk and we beat teams with your set-up in 3 minutes at most, unless we were completely outclassed playing against top 50 players. Then again, those top 50 players were not playing that build.

Nothing too interesting, just the same sore losers who say things like "lol it took you 25 seconds to kill that monk" when the rest of their team was dead and "You only won cause you haz 2 healers" and so many more.

damn the most we got was 5 wins with the same build. but we kept facing starcraft, chop chop and cirque who put an end to us quickly.

I like seeing how the meta quickly develops as players notice what is strong and what isn't. it's fascinating!

Hi there. You can safely enter now, motoko died due to lack of sleep so we had to quit.

Really surprised people actually got away with running any hexes at all on day one, as there were so many removals.

Had moderate success running the following team:
Prage hammer with gale and DBlow.
WS derv with conjure flame and meteor.
Trident Ele with gale and some monk stuff.
Glimmer monk.

Have to say that warrior was some absolutely amazing fun to play. Haven't yet played today's deck, but I'd imagine various physical pressure builds are going to be strong.

I saw two monks on the same team. I was pretty sure you couldn't get two of the same profession on the same team....

Thats the first day. 80 points in actually 1 run(that was the second try for me after CA started)
Damn update...we had to rezone after 86. Then we entered again and got 30 more. Thats a pity i couldn't do a screen of 121 cons because of update
We also ended because of lack of sleep. If You find good builds and people who can play its possible to gain consecutive wins untill skill change.

Peace!

You guys are crazy :P

The most consecutive wins I've had in the Codex was 2. Yes, 2. The monk ragequit after someone else got his res interrupted and losing the battle, sooo... things didn't turn out well. The next battle the leader told us to stay near the priest. Right when the gate opened, everyone ran out and we lost minutes after. And the only day (today) that there was a decent ranger skillset, I was gone just about the whole day.

Ah well, I'll just wait for a trapping build to come up someday.

Yeah realize that people are posting huge streaks during dead hours before or after the skill change at midnight PST.
